Our Story

Over 100 years of serving our members
and communities

The Madison County Farm Bureau was established in 1918 by the University of Illinois College of Agriculture.  On April 1, 1918, they began work with 320 members.  In less than five years, membership grew to 2,300.  Now, in 2024, we currently have over 1,400 farming members and a total of over 12,000 members.

During its first century of existence, Illinois Farm Bureau, a non-profit organization, supported the formation of other key agricultural companies, including COUNTRY Financial,

GROWMARK, Prairie Farms Dairy and several others.

Membership value is of the upmost importance to Madison County Farm Bureau.  We want to ensure our members are receiving benefits worth their membership.  We do that by offering discounts.  Through Illinois Farm Bureau and Abenity, our members receive over 302,000 discounts!

We advocate for agriculture on state and national legislation based on our policy, which is created by the statewide membership, by engaging with local legislators.  Hosting informative events based on interest from our members is one of our favorite things to do.  Each year we host our county annual meeting and an ice cream social as a way of membership appreciation.  Click here to see what events are upcoming for members.
