Our Story

100+ years of serving our members

Madison County Farm Bureau of Illinois was established in 1918 by the University of Illinois College of Agriculture.  On April 1, 1918 they began work with 320 members.  In less than 5 years, membership grew to 2,300.  Now, in 2023, we currently have over 1,400 farming members and a total of over 12,000 members.

During its first century of existence, the non-profit organization Illinois Farm Bureau supported the formation of other key agricultural companies, including COUNTRY Financial,  GROWMARK,  Prairie Farms Dairy and more.

Membership value is of most importance to Madison County Farm Bureau.  We want to be sure that our members are receiving well worth their membership.  We do that by offering discounts.  Through Illinois Farm Bureau and Abenity, our members receive over 302,000 discounts!  We advocate for agriculture on state and national legislation based on our policy, which is created by the membership.  We often engage with local legislators, as well as as adopted legislators. Hosting informative events specific to interest from our members is one of our favorite things to do.  Each year we host our county annual meeting and an ice cream social as a way of membership appreciation.  Click here to see what events are upcoming for members.
